5 things Cara can’t live without
1. Family & Friends
My family and friends are a very special part of my life. I come from a large family where my parents ensured we grew up in an environment where we respected and supported each other. I like living close to most of my family and friends and I thoroughly enjoy spending time with them. I am very fortunate to have the support system that I do.
2. Food
Being part Italian has really created a love for food in my life. If I’m hungry, you’ll know it! I love all types of food and I found the more I travelled the more I enjoyed trying new foods from different cultures. I consider myself a bit of a healthy foodie. I appreciate good wholesome food, good coffee and definitely have a sweet tooth. I have too many favourite dishes to name, but I do love all things hot and spicy and all kinds of desserts(especially chocolate). My goal is to continue improving my cooking skills to compliment my eating habits!
3. Fitness
If you know me, you know I have a fiery passion for fitness and health. I prioritize my own personal fitness on a daily basis and ensure I get in at least one workout per day. My competitive drive pushes me through most workouts and has lead me to complete a full marathon and several half marathons and road races. I love trying all sorts of workouts and pushing my physical abilities to the limit. These days I keep busy with high intensity workouts, spinning and yoga classes, lots of running and of course I still play some sports. My next goal is to complete a triathlon.
4. Travel
I have been lucky enough to gain many invaluable experiences through travelling. I have travelled through most of the US for sports (mainly
during my soccer career) and to visit my American friends that live in some awesome cities. More recently, I had the privilege to complete my Masters of Physiotherapy in Australia, which has without a doubt been one of the coolest experiences! Travelling brings me joy and excitement and I find it helps me grow as a person and within my profession. It has also forced me to become more adventurous and now that’s something I thrive for! From kayaking in Byron Bay, surfing in Bali, hiking through the west coast of the US, and playing soccer in 3 different countries to meeting some great people in different places all around the world- I’m already excited for my next adventure!
5. Sports
To be quite honest, I’m not sure where I would be without sports. They have shaped who I am today and everything in my life still revolves around sports. Being involved in sports from a young age is what inspired me to pursue a career as a Physiotherapist. Playing college soccer and being a team captain was also one of my favourite life experiences- it challenged me in many different ways and this experience in particular has given me skills that translate directly into my professional work. I still enjoy playing soccer, basketball and volleyball. I also LOVE watching sports. I don’t typically follow many TV shows. I’d rather catch a Monday Night Football Game, watch the NBA playoffs, or follow March Madness. I have a few favourite teams… Miami Dolphins, Boston Bruins, Toronto Raptors and Duke college basketball. But I will watch any sport and enjoy it!
