PHYSICAL THERAPY MODLITIES

Ultrasound and electrotherapy (ie. microcurrent and interferential current) delivers physical energy to tissue and can be helpful adjuncts to aid healing and alleviate pain. The Proactive Athlete believes that historically modalities have been greatly overvalued and over-utilized in physical therapy. These modalities, in most cases, should be restricted to the acute (early) phase of injury or re-aggravation, and are incorporated as only one component of a more comprehensive treatment plan.
